Slay-tember!
Labor Day marks the unofficial close of summer, a time when we pause to honor the value of work and the dignity of those who labor. As I sit with my morning coffee and watch the light peak above the horizon, I’m reminded that even in our busiest seasons, we’re invited into something deeper than just doing, we’re invited into “being”. Being present. Being grateful. Being still.
Labor Day was first recognized in the late 1800s, as a much needed recognition of the hands and hearts that build our communities, care for our families, and shape our shared future. It’s a day set aside for honoring the purpose and pride found in honest work. And perhaps now more than ever, it’s also a day to pause and reflect on how we’re spending our time and whether our days are filled with meaning or just motion.
So in this new month, strive to find the balance of meaningful labor and intentional rest. Find joy in the work of our hands and peace in the stillness. Remember that your value isn’t in your busyness, but in your peace.
With Love,
Beth Gaskill
